Coarse sea salt from the Mediterranean, and nothing else. No fragrance, no colour, no anti-caking agent. This is the plain one: the salt people have been getting into warm water with for as long as there have been baths.

HOW TO USE

Run a warm bath. Add the salt and stir until it dissolves: the full pouch for a full bath, half for a shallower one. Soak for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with fresh water afterwards if you prefer.

THE SALT

Ordinary sea salt is mostly sodium chloride. Dead Sea salt is not. Magnesium chloride is the largest part of it, potassium chloride comes second, and sodium is a minor component. That is why the crystals look and behave differently: translucent rather than chalky, slightly damp to the touch, and quick to dissolve in hot water.

Coarse grade, 2–4 mm. White to transparent. Odourless. The salt is hygroscopic — it draws moisture out of the air — so the pouch closes again after every use.

A bath is the shortest way we know to slow a day down. It needs no equipment, no skill and no company — only hot water, twenty minutes, and a door that closes. The salt is there to make those twenty minutes feel like something rather than nothing.

We left it unscented on purpose. The Dead Sea has been drawing people to sit in its water for several thousand years without any help from perfume, and a bath is one of the few places where it is pleasant to smell nothing at all. If you want scent in the room, light a candle instead of adding it to the water.
